Dear Colleagues,

It is with great sadness that I, on behalf of UKACM, inform you that Jason Reese passed away on Friday 8th March 2019.

Professor Reese was a recognised world authority in the field of computational multi-scale fluid dynamics. After graduating from Imperial College London, Professor Reese completed an MSc and DPhil in the University of Oxford. Following research positions in Berlin and Cambridge, he became a lecturer in Aberdeen and King´s College. In 2003 he was appointed Professor at Strathclyde University and since 2013 he was Regius Chair in Edinburgh University. He was Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society of Edinburgh and contributed greatly to the activities of the European Community of Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS) where he represented the UK in the computational fluid dynamics committee and recently co-chaired the ECCC-ECFD 2018 Conference in Glasgow.

Professor Reese will be greatly missed and our hearts go out to his wife and daughter, Alex and Zoe, in this time of sorrow.

Yours sincerely,

Rubén Sevilla
UKACM President
